Looking For Discount Used Cars
In the modern Internet enabled world finding discount used cars is easier than it’s ever been. eBay, Yahoo and other sites make it simple to find and compare features such as price, gas mileage and others. Understand some tips and tricks to avoid unscrupulous car sales on line.
Online doesn’t mean 100% honest. People trust newspapers too much, and the same goes for the web. Just because something is written in a newspaper or mentioned on the radio doesn’t mean it’s 100% true. The Internet is no different. People can write anything, promise anything, and with some of the tools available they can even create convincing photos and video out of thin air. The same predators that run shady used car lots can get onto the InternetShady car dealers use the Internet too. The snake oil smiles and slicked back hair can’t be seen during a remote negotiation. Scratches and dents can be edited out by anyone with an image software. People ignore the normal used car precautions when buying used cars online. It doesn’t mean everyone is lying or that every deal is a bad one, but don’t go in with closed eyes.
Always have a used car inspected by a good mechanic. Test drive it with a stop at a garage. Get a mechanic to take a look for you if you won’t see the car before the deal is complete. Many mechanics offer a remote inspection service. Never rely on the word of the dealer. Get a look from someone not involved in the sale. Often $50 now can save a lot more money later.
Consider the bottom line price, not financed payments. If the dealer is pushing payment amounts – “I can get you in this car for $x a month – demand to know the purchase price. Dealers often use the financing to add a few dollars to the price, so don’t use their finance company. Pay cash or find your own loan. The price should be discounted for a cash buy.
It is possible to buy cheap used cars. Buyers aren’t on their own when looking. But it’s true for used cars just as it is for anything, if a deal looks too good to be true it is.
